WHY ARE WE MAKING CHANGES?
These changes have been made to comply with the new GDPR European privacy rules which come into effect on 25th May 2018.
WHAT IS GDPR?
The GDPR acronym stands for the EU General Data Protection Regulation. After several years of preparation and debate the GDPR was finally approved by the EU Parliament on 14 April 2016. Her enforcement date is 25 May 2018 – at which time those organizations in non-compliance may face heavy fines.
The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaces the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC and was designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, to protect and empower all EEA citizens data privacy and to reshape the way organizations across the region approach data privacy. The key articles of the GDPR, as well as information on its business impact, can be found by clicking on the GDPR Portal.
The EU GDPR is the most important change in data privacy regulation in 20 years – YACHTS INVEST has made sure to be prepared to it’s enforcement end of May 2018. The aim of the GDPR is to protect all European citizens from privacy and data breaches in an increasingly data-driven world that is vastly different from the time in which the 1995 directive was established. Although the key principles of data privacy still hold true to the previous directive, many changes have been proposed to the regulatory policies.
