The Yachts Invest Turkey Agency will be located in Bebek – Bebek is a historic Istanbul neighbourhood that falls within the boundaries and administration of the Besiktas district. It is located on the European shores of the Bosphorus and is surrounded by similarly affluent neighbourhoods. Bebek has a long history tied to marinas and pleasure yachting in Turkey. The Bebek neighbourhood is attractively positioned on the Bosphorus with its deep, sheltered bay and sweeping views in both directions along the waterway, where yachting is significantly developed.
The “Yacht Park” project, which is conducted by ISPARK, a public organization of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality, will make a significant contribution to sea tourism and trade. ISPARK had previously opened “Yacht Park” in Tarabya and İstinye with a capacity of berthing 400 boats & yachts. The Bebek, Kurucesme, Beykoz and Pasabahce Bays are going to be the next projects. When the “Yacht Park” project is completed, the mooring capacity of yachts on the Sea of Marmara will be of approximately 5000 boats, yachts and superyachts.
Turkey has sailed ahead of many European countries as a leader in the yacht building and marketing race, as remarkable growth in the yachting sector showed Turkey ranking amongst Europe’s largest producers, buyers and charterers of yachts.
More than 40 marinas are located in Turkey, with a large population of boats, yachts, superyachts and mega yachts. They all have convenient services and compare to those of Europe. It is also possible to combine Turkish coast with Greek islands as a popular route in yachting or sailing.
The estimated number of yacht mooring capacity is 25.000 in Turkey. With the new marina investments, the targeted number will be 50.000 in 2023. This shows us marine sector is on the rise in Turkey, especially in luxury yachts. This rising also positively affects tourism receipts of Turkey. With its excellent location, Turkey will be one the preferred marina addresses for luxury yachts from all around the world especially Europe and Asia.
Turkey has 8,333 kilometers of coastline and there are about 360 registered boat and yacht manufacturers, according to the country’s Yacht and Boat Industry Federation, or YATEF.
